Last year, Google changed its content store name to Google Play. To celebrate the one-year anniversary of Google Play, Google is offering some free stuff this week – that means that you have two days (counting today) to grab something for free!

Better late than never, right? Google has put a number of things up for grabs including some gift certificates and some free tunes. I’ve had a chance to do some snooping, and here’s exactly what Google is offering.

Gift Certificate Breakdown

A popular Google app called “GYFT” is offering users $20 in gift certificates after app download. You might be thinking that this will come out to 20 $1 gift certificates, but that’s not the case. Instead, this one seems to be for the ladies. GYFT’s $20 certificate offers apply towards the “Shoptiques” online store and a store called “POSH Mommy.”

Shoptiques is an online store that lets consumers purchase clothing and other items from boutiques around the globe. You can read more about this site here. POSH Mommy is a site that offers designer goods to well-off moms. GYFT is giving away a $10 gift card to both online retailers. If you are a man, these gift cards might be great for buying stuff for your lady. Otherwise, this offer seems to be really geared towards women and moms, in particular. An app called FANCY is also offering a free $15 gift card.

Music Download Breakdown

As mentioned, you can also download some free tunes from Google Music. However, Google Music does not work in Canada, so save yourself some time if you live in the great north. If you live in the United States, you can download tunes from old school bands like Gorillaz and Daft Punk (amongst others). Most of the music that Google’s selected for a free download is of the iconic sort, so you won’t find any JT or Taylor Swift.

You’ll also find that Google is offering a free book download (“A Quest of Heroes”); 10% off using Hotels.com; exclusive Yumby Smash game characters; 50% off Kung Fu Panda; the Gnome Village Birthday Game; and Royal-Revolt in-app discounts. These deals seem to be changing regularly, so check the Google Play site before you decide to download anything. Google always knows how to celebrate in style, and this week proves to be no exception to the rule.

Get Them While You Can!

Even if you can’t think of a reason to snag that game, book, movie, or coupon right now, it never hurts to have a few gifts in the bag. You never know when you might need to give someone a gift certificate, and that certificate could make someone very happy. Consider all the things that you could do with a free coupon!

Birthdays, events, so many things coming up, I’m betting! If you have an Android device and you want to snag some free stuff, head to the Google Play store now! Remember, this offer is only available this week, so get going!
